Britain’s workforce is becoming increasingly savvy when it comes to recognising and enforcing their employment rights, leading experts have revealed. As the working environment has morphed under the weight of a painful recession, the need for employees to understand their employment rights has become of paramount importance. And pockets of staff are increasingly willing to enforce their rights, according to prominent employment solicitor Paul Quinn. "I think people are also becoming a lot more aware particularly through the internet and other media,’ said Mr Quinn. "It doesn't take much research to find a whole host of information." Stressing the need for workers to understand their rights, Mr Quinn predicted that the number of redundancy tribunal claims being made in the UK may rise further over the coming year, after a large figure was recorded this year. The UK witnessed a 7.9 per cent rate of unemployment in the quarter which led up to October of this year, research published by the Office for National Statistics recently revealed. Those still struggling to comprehend their rights have been encouraged to seek legal advice where and when necessary to ensure that compensation is enforced where necessary.
