Dissolution of Civil Partnerships

The Civil Partnership Act 2004 came into operation on 5 December 2005 and enables same sex couples to register as civil partners. As a result, civil partners are now afforded similar rights to married couples.

What is the procedure for dissolving Civil Partnerships?

The procedure is similar to that for Divorce and the financial procedures detailed elsewhere on this site. The main difference with Civil Partnership dissolution is that the parties cannot dissolve their relationship on the basis of adultery.

Our costs and court fees

From 6 April 2011, the Family Procedure Rules 2010 come into force in England and Wales. The format of Court documents will change from that date and forms in use before that date will no longer be accepted by the Court. Other procedures will also change and we recommend that you seek our advice regarding how this may impact on your own particular case and circumstances.
