We are committed to operating to the highest possible legal standards with a strong sense of integrity, developing and maintaining trust with our clients and business partners.
We believe Community, Diversity and Environmental issues are key to Corporate Social Responsibility. We aim to take an active role in the local area and business community, and to do all we can to help improve our region through charitable donation and supporting initiatives that make a difference to people.
Every year, we adopt one main charity as our “Charity of the Year” which is then our main focus for fundraising activities. Our staff raise funds individually and collectively for a local nominated and elected charity.
We have been raising funds for a Charity of the Year since our formation in 2002. Our fundraising starts on 1st May each year and runs to 30th April the next year, so we have a full financial year to raise funds.
In 2018, our Social & Charity committee have decided to raise funds for 3 local charities:
Dogs for Good, Oxfordshire Mind and Katharine House Hospice.
Dogs for Good—This year is the 30th year anniversary for the local charity, and an exciting time for us to be involved with them. The charity’s main purpose is to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities through the help of a trained dog. The charity aims to constantly improve the human/dog relationship and leads the way in finding new ways that dogs can help people.
Oxfordshire Mind—Mind is a mental health charity that promotes mental health awareness and wellbeing. 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives and Mind ensures that there is always a place people can go to for advice and support.
Katharine House Hospice—The Hospice is a specialist provider of palliative care for adults whose support not only focusses on easing the symptoms of life limiting diseases, but also supports patients and their families in their emotional and spiritual needs as well as bereavement support.
As well as our charity of the year we sponsor or provide support to a variety of local charities and organisations where there is a link with our people, the local community or the legal industry in general. A number of our Directors and staff also engage in legal pro bono work or take part as individuals in charitable events.
We recognise that our activities have an impact on the environment. We want to limit these impacts as far as possible, and view compliance with environmental law not as a benchmark but a minimum requirement.
We are committed to ensuring that our business is environmentally responsible and believe it is essential for us to achieve continuous improvements and support external initiatives.
To address key issues of concern and minimise our environmental impact we commit to reducing the production of waste and recycle wherever possible. We also aim to conserve energy through efficient use of natural resources and manufactured products such as paper.
These commitments are set out in our Environmental Policy which is central to our business. The environment policy is reviewed on an annual basis. The policy is implemented by our Green team which meets monthly to promote environmental awareness and reduce waste.
