Conveyancer – Maternity Cover – 6 Month FTC – Bicester Office

Terms/Hours: Full time. Monday to Friday 9.00-5.30pm

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Fee Earner/Conveyancer in our Bicester office, to work as part of a team providing legal services in respect of conveyancing instructions received from Clients and intermediaries. To communicate with clients, referrers, agents, lenders, other parties Solicitors and mortgage brokers. We welcome applicants who are either legally qualified or have relevant experience within residential conveyancing.

  • ​To have the ability to recognise and to develop existing and new relationships with agents and introducers.
  • ​To be able to check titles and leases without supervision (though technical help is available)
  • ​To use the Case Management System (CMS) to produce letters and documents with and without support.
  • ​To work with the conveyancing assistant to ensure all matters are brought to completion as soon as possible.
  • ​To be responsible for own caseload of conveyancing files, with a target of circa 20 completions per month.
  • ​To have a good knowledge of the preparation of bills and completion statements.
  • ​To ensure that all undertakings (other than standard ones as to deeds and in Replies to Requisitions) are referred to the Conveyancing Partner.
  • ​To ensure that high levels of customer service are maintained at all times.
  • ​To ensure that the Departmental Manager is made aware of any cases where there is reason to believe that it may lead to a problem or complaint.
  • ​To ensure that telephone calls are dealt with in a professional and friendly manner, that full electronic telephone notes are taken and that calls relating to complaints, which the Fee Earner is unable to resolve, are referred to the Departmental Manager immediately. With the aid of the conveyancing assistant to regularly update clients as to progress of matters.
  • ​To delegate administrative tasks such as copying, applying for searches and post completion work to the Conveyancing Assistant.
  • ​To ensure that all matters are billed promptly at completion.
  • ​To be familiar when required with the operation of all relevant IT facilities including Word, Excel, Laserform, Videss etc.
  • ​To ensure the confidentiality and security of all Firm and client documentation and information.
  • ​To provide guidance to the Conveyancing Assistants when required to do so.
  • ​To undertake any specific training when required to do so.
  • ​To have competent numeracy and spelling skills, and to be able to type and be computer literate.
  • ​To be able to demonstrate proactivity and attention to detail.
  • ​To demonstrate organisational and time management skills, and an ability to cope with changing levels of workloads.
  • To demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop in the role.
  • To demonstrate the ability to ask for assistance when required, and a willingness to help other members of the team.

About the team

Our Residential Conveyancing team consists of 24 staff based in Bicester, and they have extensive expertise in conveyancing for all types of residential property transactions. Areas of expertise that we excel in include help-to-buy properties, retirement homes; freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, re-mortgages and new build and self build properties. Our clients range from first-time buyers, through to highly experienced property developers and we are proud to consistently achieve an extremely high level of client satisfaction.
