Staff at Spratt Endicott Solicitors exceeded their £2000 target for the firm’s 2015/16 Charity of the Year, The Banbury Lions’ Defibrillator Appeal, raising a fantastic £4,045.48.
This more than doubled the original target which aimed to supply Banbury with 1 defibrillator located near to the Banbury Cross.
Banbury’s first defibrillator was installed in March by the Banbury Lions, and is located next to Marks and Spencer in Banbury Town centre. A defibrillator costs £2000 to install, so this means that the Banbury Lions will now be able to install a further 2, life-saving defibrillators around the town. The first Spratt Endicott defibrillator will be located near the Banbury Cross whilst the 2nd defibrillator location has yet to be decided.
Spratt Endicott held a number of fundraising events and initiatives throughout the year in order to reach the £2000 target including:
- Christmas activities including a Hamper raffle, a Christmas cake and goodies sale, a Christmas Jumper day and a ‘guess the name of the Polar Bear’ Christmas game…
- Quiz Night and Tombola…
- Easter Activities day including a ‘bake off’ competition and cake sale, Easter egg hunt and Easter Hampers…
Spratt Endicott also held its first ever Casino Night in April which was the final push to reach the target.
On the night, the Banbury Lions acted as Croupiers and brought along an array of Casino-style games, complete with (pretend) casino money! It was a fantastic night with over 70 guests in attendance, including Spratt Endicott Staff, Banbury Lions and many friends and family.

Spratt Endicott’s original aim of raising the full amount for the purchase of a defibrillator and cabinet for the town was an ambitious goal. However, to then go on and raise enough for two units is a remarkable achievement.
These defibrillators are needed in our town and can save lives. Everyone at Spratt Endicott should be very proud of what they have accomplished for our community.”
