Spratt Endicott Solicitors celebrates successful year of fundraising for the Horton General Hospital Charity as it donates £2,200

June 12th 2018

Spratt Endicott Solicitors, is celebrating a successful year of fundraising for the Horton General Hospital Charity – its chosen charity of the year for the 2017/2018 financial year.

The efforts of the law firm’s staff saw £2,200 raised for the Horton General Hospital in Banbury, which caters for approximately 180,000 people within Banbury and the surrounding areas, making it one of the busiest hospitals in Oxfordshire.

The funding supports requirements not covered by the NHS, such as research, staff development and training, as well as the sourcing of new specialist equipment, which includes aspects such as wheelchairs and beds. The efforts of the Horton General Hospital Charity help to enhance the environment of the hospital, giving patients, visitors and staff a more positive experience of its services and facilities.

Yolanda Jacob, fundraising project manager for The Horton General Hospital said: “We are thrilled with the effort that Spratt Endicott staff have put in. With the money raised, we hope to supply our hospital with important extras that are not covered by the NHS, but are still vital for research and training of our staff, providing a better environment for our patients and their visitors and for enhancing the environment of the Horton General Hospital.”

John Spratt, Chairman of Spratt Endicott Solicitors, said of the fundraising efforts: “Our local community is hugely important to us as a firm, and the Horton General provides an essential service to that community. We are delighted to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause that delivers so much to Banbury and its surrounds.”

This not the first time that Spratt Endicott has sponsored the hospital. In 2012, the hospital was chosen as the charity of the year in support of its newly expanded Brodey Centre for Cancer treatment. Originally opened in 1998, the centre at the time had one chemotherapy trained nurse and a breast care nurse. Today, the centre has 3 oncologists who hold weekly outpatient clinics along with their palliative care team, a full-time nurse and a visiting consultant from Katharine House Hospice.

Each year, Spratt Endicott adopts one main charity to support throughout the year as a collaborative fundraising initiative that gets everyone involved. For the 2018/2019 financial year however, the firm is opting to support multiple charities – with the final decision due to be announced shortly.

Pete Gardner, a long-time member of Spratt Endicott’s Social and Charity committee, which determines the charity of the year and coordinates fundraising efforts, said of the total raised: “£2,200 is a considerable sum and one we hope goes someway to helping maintain the Horton General’s wonderful efforts within the heart of our community.”

He added: “Next year’s charity – or should we say charities – of choice are just being finalised, but we’re hoping to improve on the fundraising total next year as we continue our commitment to supporting local endeavours, and worthy local causes.”
